Before There Was A Web

Before there was a web.
Nobody tweeted or twittered.
Before there was a web.
People spoke on the streets.
Where they would meet.
Planning their activities,
For the whole week.

Before the web.
Few people were considered nitwits.
And before the web,
People hid their private 'bits'.
Now today,
Everybody knows...
Who does who.
And everything about them exposed.

Before there was a web.
People were discreet.
And before there was a web.
Teachers taught to teach.
But now children learn more,
On urban streets.
To leave behind suburbanites,
Drugged on false beliefs.

Before there was a web.
Life was not as complex.
Before there was a web.
Bullies were not such pests.
And chosen were the leaders,
Now accused of theft.
Or immoral doings.
To suspect who is next.
And before there was a web.
Innocence was not pretended.
And before there was a web.
People said what they meant.
But today,
The web has left many crazed.
