For my poems, my friend Valsa George has a hunger.
She’s over fifty, but, compared to me, she is younger.
She suggested I write about ‘the advantages of being old’.

I am over seventy and i agree with your advantages and disadvantages of being elderly. Being overweight is more of a problem for me now. My face is changing, going by what I see in the mirror. At least I am not the only one.

Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life.
Such a witty and lighthearted poem about old age. With retirement comes the freedom from loaded jobs, and the retired people can then enjoy good life if they remain young at heart and stay healthy and vigorous...I remember reading an essay by Samuel Ullman entitled: Youth.
