Best Friends Forever

Poem By Shara Reeves

The tender young girls,
sit on the floor
Making bracelets,
for the one they adore
Bundles of colored twine
Simplistic in design
'Forever Friends'
The words their wristlet's bore

A gift the girls gave,
straight from the heart
Thinking -
they would never grow apart
Innocent and naive
Far too young to believe
That as time goes by,
friends do depart.

Her Doll

Mara sits on her bed alone, with her doll in hand – tattered.

Markers scattered, open and used; scissors spread - abused

Paper Flowers

The voices, they whisper,
so soft and pretty.
Their words are riddles,
keen and witty.
