Black And White

I cleanse my heart in the healing waters
Of your stare
Letting the clear coolness wash
Over me
Pushing away the scabs, formed decades ago
Cutting through scars left by wounds
Too deep to explore
Turning this coolness from clear
To a deep reddish-black
Exposing the pink of newborn skin
Fresh flesh
Vulnerable and exposed
Ripe for the killing
Will I make it out whole
Or will these waters wear me
Through the bone
