Black Angel

Black angel of the night,
Haloed by fading prisms of light
Her gown bright with brilliant stars,
Prays for man's freedom, near and far.

'Too many heroes have died in vain,
No more slaves or chains, MAY ALL MEN BE FREE! '

Her tears flashing like falling stars,
She sobs and cries in the dark,
As she cups freedom's flickering spark,
She raises her arms and falls to her knees.

'Too many heroes have died in vain,
No more slaves or chains - MAY ALL MEN BE FREE! '

The black angel is the angel of martyrdom. How often we see the fuitility of the sacrifices made for a noble cause. Still men are not dismayed by failures and persistently strive against odds to finally achieve their purpose. nicely written
