Black Eyes

Poem By Belquis Barés

Black Eyes

As the confidant night
That protects our meetings
Your eyes are
My ardent lover
The ones that decipher
My desires.

What better darkness
To lodge me
That of your starving look
Without pronouncing a proud
expressive word
Your anxieties for wanting me.

Black eyes
Where I am reflected
Full of joy
To be devoured upon
By your passionate
Violent wave
That undermines
My soul in love.

Again, such passion and expression of love. Of overpowering need and want which transcends the nominal world of everyday people. Yours is a sacrificial love which would gladly be given on the altar of conformity or sacrifice. I feel fortunate to read these beautiful poems.
