Blast

Just wait, my love
all flowers will
soon go to sleep
inside their beds.
The cloud of gas
has been released
it travels slow
but with a mind
that must erase
all traces of
our lives.

And we shall too
when darkness comes
pull up those sheets
to cover eyes
which never will
be used again.
And do not ask
who was behind
that last command.
It matters not.

Herbert, I do hope someone is left to ask who was behind the last command...another fine poem. Raynette
