Blinded. As If Bats(Myopic)

Poem By Lawrence S. Pertillar

Ungrateful, myopic.
And blinded. As if bats.
So many perceive,
Their blessings to receive...
Have resulted for them to come,
From what they have done individually.
In a performance,
Of their own private acts.
To dismiss the ones,
There to support their efforts to endeavor.
With it to then to say,
How these folks are envious and jealous.
Of their success to have achieved.
To have been done no other way!

"But...
Who was it that knocked on the doors.
To have others notice,
What they can do.
And encouraged their abilities.

Who was it that showed,
Ignoring words of negativity...
Is better for them,
With steps moving forward.
Leaving behind what they hear,
And not fear the possibilities.
No one else they knew did that.
And...
Who had been there for them.
To sacrifice time.
Done to do without excuses to find.

And they have the nerve to accuse you,
To be the envious and jealous kind?
Folks like that,
Have to be out of their minds."

-I use to feel those same sentiments.
Until I stopped,
Believing in them.
More than they believed in themselves.-

"I bet they got that message! "

-No.
I got the message.-

"Better late than never."

-You can say that again.-

"Better late than never."
