Borderland Ii

Deep inside the borderland
A thief stands up to speak,
Mark of Cain upon the lips,
His crooked tongue in cheek.

'As long as you abide here
You'll have to pay the rent
You get no cost reduction
For time already spent.

Your right hand pays the piper
The left tunes the fiddle
Silver bracelets worn in back
Follow you down the middle.

Your pages are all numbered
But footnotes are askew
Reading from left to right
The choices are but two.

You can dance around the truth
With your back against the wall
Or masquerade your face
And rush off down the hall.'
