Born For These Times

Born for these times.

This is not the time
to mind our own business,
this is the time to welcome
our brothers and sisters
into our hearts and homes,

this is the time
to go into the woods
and gather the silence
of the great trees,
and carry it deep inside,

this is the time
to remember all we love
and cherish,
to let a fierce love of beauty
be our guide,

this maybe our last chance to rise,
to stand against injustice
and lies,

we are all a little traumatized,
but let us never forget-
we were born for these times.

Humbled by your comments Susan. Wrote recently I want to be among things that carry no past, or fear no future, things that quieten the mind and nourish the heart In these troubled times I find comfort and rest in nature. Thank you so much for your encouragement it means a lot Susan.

Excellent in every line, but I must say these particular lines reached out and took me for a soul-walk. Thank you thank you thank you for writing this piece.... and I pray it is heeded before it is too late and mankind once again for the last time destroys itself. A giant of a poem, dear Norah. A redwood of a poem. 10+++++++++++++ and a spot on my favs.
I feel deeply sorry for the refugees. We must never turn our backs on humanity. Good poem, Norah.
