Once there was a boy
by Eric Elliott
sitting on the steps of an old building
people passed by all the time but never did the boy move
he sat thinking of a girl from his class
he'd said he loved her didn't he?
so there he'd sit till he died
but on this dark day he raised
himself he found no longer in side
was he a boy but a man
he knew he felt love for her
and he knew it had to die
but what made him a man
was that even if his love died
he no longer had to.
