Burns Black

Poem By J. James Martinez

If only I
Could lay you down
And have you sleep
Right through the heartache

No moments of grievance
No wasted minutes on useless meddling
Or futile battling
For we’re short on time
Short on seconds
Short on…

Our years shuffle
Stagger and stumble
Drag their feet into waiting oblivion

Run with me
I see no choice

We have so much to live for
So much to witness
Before the sun burns out
Burns black

We have so many more tears
To shed
So many rivers and lakes to create

We have so much to watch dwindle
Dull and die
Before the sun burns out
Burns black

Looking Dapper

with a bang
is how a world shifts
with a crash
is how the frames fall

Running Sleeves

Trudging through the despair of daylight
Fighting battles
Outside Midst...
Losing the war within himself

Desperate To Keep

Through our lives
We dream
Close our eyes
Sleep

If I Had

If I had chalk
I would sketch a poem
If I had a canvas
I would paint a memory
