Catching My Tears

Why can't this be a dream?
Yet would the angels bring me such tragedy?
A single tear slides down my cheek
As a dark hand gently brushes it away.
Dark sorrowful eyes stare into mine.
My dark mysterious friend...

And that night laying in your bed
The world fell silent listening to my tears

And the past comes rushing back
The sunsets, the mountains, the stars
Laying in the grass and staring
Into the deep, darkening sky.
You offered them all to me
But all I wanted was your heart...

And that night laying in your bed
The world fell silent listening to my tears

Another tear gliding down
And again a gentle brushing away.
Though you ask me, you know why I cry
I cannot get you out of my heart.
I cannot hate you though I've tried.
I hurt me before you could...

And that night laying in your bed
The world fell silent listening to my tears

How could any touch be so warm
Any lips so hungry, any graze so inciting
Yet it's deliverer so cold?
And as I wept strong until I was empty,
Sorrowful eyes looked into mine
And embers branded you into my mind...

And that night laying in your bed
The world fell silent listening to my tears
