Chained To The Past

My future is captive of my
past
Across each day a dark shadow
cast

If I could erase things of
yesteryear
To gain a future bright and
clear

Darts of gossip by tongue are
hurled
Evil thoughts at me
unfurled

Carried by the mouths unrelenting
condemning wind
To make me live my past over
again

Like scavenging vultures looking
for prey
With beak and talon strip flesh
away

The picture was perfectly painted. Forgettable past, horrific now, and a bleak future. Well done. Please review my poem 'The Empress Of My Heart'
