***[Chant the mantra]

Poem By Doris Kareva

Chant the mantra, mandragora,
mandragora, deathly deep sleep-weed:
it all keeps turning, keeps churning,
keeps occurring.

Enduring is the evidence
that of all forces the most intense,
the most immense
is love's essence.

Translated from Estonian by Miriam McIlfatrick-Ksenofontov

Desert dogs run through my dreams,
light, fast, and silent,
just like the wind of God;
beautiful and regal, night after night
