Chess Lent

Given up for Lent
Chess, that is-
Well, really, it
Was because
I couldn't beat
To the rhythm of
The squall and squeal
Of a king tipped -
Resigned to a funny
Lisp, that never was
Checkmated, both
Bishops linger near-
Leaping knights
Praying for a
Barren queen's
Womb.

I like the use of chess imagery but your message is left in disguise.
