Childhood Memories Of Nottingham
Poem By Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet
My Mother was a Nottingham Lass
And went to High Pavement School,
To Waverley Mount she went to Club
And to Chaucer Street to Shul.
I was born in Nottingham too,
And to Lenton Sands went to school,
Saw my first television in Derby Road,
And in The Park, heard my first cuckoo.
I went a-conkering in The Arboretum,
Saw Notts County play cricket at Trent Bridge,
I sat on the Stone Lions in The Council Square,
Went in The Forest to the famous Goose Fair,
Till I moved to London at the age of six,
But part of me, in Nottingham, still sticks.
As memories of my childhood forever abound
And sometimes there my heart can be found.
