Christmas Morning Here In Melbourne
Christmas morning here in Melbourne I sit here in Bourke Street Mall
by Francis Duggan
And of all of the days of Christmas this is the quietest day of all
And old Chrismas tunes from Myers fill the peaceful morning air
And the bells of nearby church house ring the faithful in for prayer.
And the sun is brightly shining this will make a warm day
What a difference from Europe and those Islands far away
In the Isles of western Europe now the Winter winds blow chill
And the weather cold and sleety and jack frost is on the hill.
Christmas morning here in Melbourne in Victoria's Premier Town
And the streets are quiet this morning and few trams pass up and down
And though the sun was shining brightly when I started off this rhyme
The sky has turned dull and it seems 'twill rain and I might be proved wrong this time.
Christmas morning here in Melbourne and all is beautiful and quiet
And from Myers shopping complex ring the strains of silent night
And the sun once more is shining after all I could prove right
And this could be in Melbourne a day of warm sun light
