Clearly In Red Ink

She gave away free hugs and a smile with a smile
had a sign for all to see clearly in red ink... free hugs
included in the price a friendly smile in a world where
greed and love are used in the same sentence
she danced and waved a white flag of surrender
a free hug with a smile a golden image does not return hugs
we must become like rainbows after the storm
looking for a hand to hold and share...except

some are like a sand storm blowing harsh and relentless
beating their drums believing their own myth
words from pretenders who can't see the stars or heaven
just the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow
the inmates are running the asylum or so it seems...except

she danced and waved a white flag of surrender
a free hug with a smile a golden image does not return hugs
she included in the price a smile in a world where
greed and love are used in the same sentence
it feels like a long time the water keeps rising
the winds ware me down blow me off course
torrential waves of anger hides the rainbow
but we must become
the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow
after the storm
