In memory of Col. John Stikes

On the floor of night
12 Chimes rang
no sound was heard
by our dying friend

Then dawn came to the peaceful room
and fractured light through a stained glass pane
cast gemstone colors across the floor
and upon the stillness of our
near death friend
a prisms reflection
he now wore

Life and death had then assembled
In measured degrees diminished
our friend would speak in silence
and we would hear farewell
as he left to join the firmament
where the power of energy dwells.
