Poem By Temperance Joy
Drugs can destroy a family
Destroy a life.
Scary. The difference just one choice can make.
Getting high for the first time
Crank is a monster that grabs your hand and never lets it go.
Soaring high above the clouds, this monster pulls you up.
But once you crash, you fall just as fast as you were lifted up.
Destroying yourself and those around you. But you don't really care.
You crave the high, you thrive to bring it back.
One wrong choice and your brain gives in, to the monster that dwells within.
The new 'you' shows more each time the monster draws you in.
More and more it becomes a part of your daily life routine.
Adds some spice here and there but still the crash hits hard.
The harder the crash, the more you crave.
The more you crave, the further you fall.
Deep into the abyss of the drug, the monster holds you down.
Unable to breathe unable to move without your monster's support.
Its strength pulls you in, draws you to its grasp.
Without it you drown in the sorrow of reality.
With its power you feel invincible
Stronger than you ever dreamed.
Addiction. The one word you wouldn't believe.
Until you really were without.
Scared beyond reason, trembling in fear.
The monster squeezes tightly as it sees of its achievement.
The monster inside you stirs. As the monster in the mirror smiles as you, once again welcome your addiction.
The monster laughs just as you do
When the drug pumps through your viens.
Pulsing faster with each passing minute.
Finally you're numb to all pain.
Until the high runs low and you become the monster.
No turning back now.
You are the monster on the mirror.
