We stay in the independence
by Dowell Oba
Of our worlds,
Separately kept in our territory
Of common thoughts.
We envisage our good future,
Filled with retrospections
Of our beginning, left without an end.
We ponder and contemplate on our present,
Filled with unwanted complications
That we try to understand.
We live with grief and misgivings,
Mixed with the passion of our cravings.
We search within our hearts,
For a truth that exists but shows the opposite.
We ask ourselves and worry...
But deep within our unending cravings
Comes a hope that binds our spirits together
Without the slightest trace
That a frown once lived
In the undecided posture of our brow.
