Critical Critics

Poem By Maureen Alikor

Oh critic!
before you spew words
born out of pride
will you
pause,
think,
and question the inner man
of the words?

Oh critic!
before you tell me
how weak my words are
will you not tell me
how strong I am at heart
to have penned down my fears?

Oh critic!
bit by bit
you murder my courage
with sharp tongues...
...of favoritism
as you lash down my pride
and bury my dreams
of tomorrow foreseen

you shall live
and watch me soar
you shall live
and watch destiny smile
upon my prowess

Pregnant Smile

Mouthful,
lips shuts,
the wide grin.
That deceptive curve.

The Barren Tree

Stood beneath it,
wondering what could have gone wrong.

Staring sternly at its roots;

Lynched

in bits and bits
I picked it all up
every fragment
every piece

A Writer's Plea

Forgive me
the speech have become redundant
the fingers have chosen to be valiant
I may not be a talker

Time

what is hidden
is indeed hidden
reason known to He
who sees in the dark
