Dandelion Denizens & Others~

Weeds are my friends - my comrades
Simple emerald explosions - of delight
The sheer green lace that lines the lane i live on
Deep colour enriched for our sight;

Have you ever seen an uncombed head of a dandelion?
Standing out like a sore thumb on a manicured lawn?
Or the insolent thistle that embraces the curbs
That spread themselves - growing on & on & on;

Let us not forget the tumble weed that blows free
All dressed up in pale beige - dried woven gold
The movable ramparts of this southwest region
On it's way - to passing away -this way - growing old;

I take but one small exception to the rule
It is in regards to the Holly outside our door
Though not a weed - it seems a rather bit toxic to humans
Breathing it in - will make your throat sore;

Yes, the weeds are, indeed, my friends - my comrades
The yellow - the green - the purple - the blue
Growing occasionally next to my prized enclave of roses
Deeply colour enriched - yet every day brand new;

Tirupathi, so true. Few people know the awesome benefits of the dandelion... they are an awesome detoxifier - so good for the liver and other health issues. Yes, they are beautiful - in my eyes as well. Thank you for your generous words! Best regards, Theo
When dandelions are grown for food, grass becomes weed. I always appreciate the beauty of dandelions. Nice poem.
Thank you David! Yes, dandelions are beneficial to ones health as are some forms of thistle - some do not know that - and of course, i have weeds that look almost like flowering plants - that are really pretty.. Not all are unsightly or even pose a problem. Always appreciate your kind words!
I agree with you, there is nothing wrong with weeds, some are most beautiful.
