Death Of A Dancer Or The Dancers

In the dim-lit crowded ballroom
A dancer pranced across the floor
Unknowing to her awaiting doom
She danced her way to death’s dark door

Her partner twirled alongside
Oblivious to his fate
Beyond the floor they did glide
A killer lied in wait

A bullet rang through the air
Once, twice, three times
Blood stained the dancers’ hair
The color of the spectators’ wines

For a moment no one moved in shock
Till a baby’s cry pierced the scene
A shadow tucked away a Glock
A hand disappeared, slim and lean

The ballroom erupted in screams and shouts
Pure panic permeated the room
Men yelled their demands for the rotten lout
Women wept for the dancers
Who’d danced to their doom

This is the tale of two dancers
Who never had a chance
At least the unlucky prancers
Had their one last final dance.
