Diminished

DIMINISHED

I SAW THROUGH THE FIRE GUARD,
THE HUMANS PREPARING TO LEAVE.
WAS MY FIRE DANCE,
NOT PLEASING ANY MORE,
NOW MY STRENGTH WAS WANING,
MY LIGHT DIMINISHING?

MY FRIENDS AND I,
DANCED IN RENEWED FEVERISHNESS,
IN ONE LAST PLEADING,
BUT TO NO AVAIL,
I WATCHED AS THEY APPROACHED,
I SAID GOODBYE TO MY FRIENDS,
SAID GOODBYE TO MY SHORT LIFE,
I WATCHED MY OWN DEMISE,
MY OWN DEATH.
FOR NOW, I AM JUST
A FADING MEMORY OF WARMTH,
WITHOUT FORM OR URGENCY.
