Dismantling The Status Quo

Poem By Lawrence S. Pertillar

Destroying the integrity.
And function of the status quo.
With all existing affairs,
Once associated with its existence.
Has begun to face quick elimination.
Swift,
Has permission been given.
Done as those observing cheer on.
Without it to dawn,
Upon their enthusiastic consciousness...
What this means,
To their diminishing quality of life.
Losing its value in broad daylight.
Although yet,
The masses who follow remain to expect...
Benefits to continue with no end in sight.
However...
Clear it is as leaves appear on trees.
In the Autumn when they fall,
This reality...
No longer can be seen to believe.
And that for many,
For whatever the reason is thought a joke.
Kept provoked and it to mock.
With an entertaining demise of it.
Bewildering some still enthralled by this,
To wonder why...
They remain among the few who laugh!
