Don'T Quote Me
I spit a line, a clever word,
by Sophia White
You wonder at what you just heard.
I see my trip, ignore my fall.
Just don’t quote me – ever – at all.
I say one thing. I am another.
No one knows if I’m one or the other.
What’s bluntly said is often wrong.
Don’t quote my word, my rhyme, my song.
On the sidewalk, I scrawl my thoughts
The lies shine out like bloody spots.
The truths were small, rain washed them out.
My whispers are truth, don’t quote my shouts.
