Dreamers Blues.

Saw Dylan Thomas last night in a dream,
with a silver banjo and dancing queen.
Said, “ Hi Dylan how’s your luck”.
He said, “I’m leaving here fast in a supercharged truck,
there’s room upstairs would you like to come”,
Said “ I’d love to but there’s a war just begun
All the Kings men have turned into thieves
And make all the King’s women go weak at the knees,
Where are you heading, where will you go.
He just sang.

To a land that’s cool with driven snow
where people are kind where the devil don’t go,
a land of the free where justice resides
where mercy and goodness no longer hides”.

“What’s this war? Dylan said with a smile.
A war in my soul been brewing for a while,
He slapped his thigh and started to laugh
“don’t go slipping on that slippery path,
wherever you’ve walked is only the past
whatever you make you know it won’t last
But wherever you find one,
in what appears to be two
You’ll come to your senses and be no longer blue.

It was just about then that Plato appeared
Carrying a book in his long white beard
I said “Mr.Plato I’ve heard that you’re wise
Can you help me distinguish the truth from these lies
that appear from nowhere and cloud up my eyes?
He spoke in colours my ears couldn’t catch
Out to the stars my reach couldn’t match
Embraced the heavens with invisible hands
And walked without footprints in the sands,
a long white cloak in the wind a blowing
I sat and wondered where on earth he was going
He turned round and smiled and softly sang

If you discover one in what appears to be two
You’ll come to your senses and no longer be blue
In a land that’s cool with driven snow
Where people are kind and the devil don’t go
A land of the free where justice resides
Where mercy and goodness no longer hides

Plato disappeared and Mozart came by
With an electric guitar and a smile in his eye
Said “ Amadeus what’s the news? ”
He said,
“I’m off to the King to play him some blues
All dressed up in my gold lame shoes
Taking his yacht on a river cruise”.

To a land that’s cool with driven snow
Where people are kind and the devil don’t go
A land of the free where justice resides
Where goodness and mercy no longer hides

The alarm clock rang and I awoke
Wondered if someone was playing a joke
Singing in my dreams when I’m fast asleep
Making me wonder
and sometimes weep.
