Dreams

Poem By nisha dyrene

We hide them in the caverns of our mind
Visiting them clandestinely between coffee breaks
Those few stolen moments of pleasure
Worth far more than the sum total of our lives

A single dream can drive an entire generation
Form an empire, create a revolution
Having no limits or boundaries
Except those of the human mind

But a thousand dreams die every day
And a thousand more are born
Many are victims of logic and reality
Shot down in the course of conversation

Too few have the courage to raise dreams
Those voiceless wraiths of the mind
That glitter our eyes and wing our feet
That give us purpose but demand our lives
