Driving In 2007

Poem By Will Boyce

I was driving yesterday,
in the backseat

staring out the window
at the trees and hills moving fast.

the metal and plastic of the window frame
staying still as the world passed

and I caught a glimpse,
a glimpse of an old world's mind

like a movie set in the future
playing before my eyes..

now I'm afraid of the future.
now I'm afraid of time

The label of a thing.
The word that disguises it.
What really is this thing?

Up and down the train aisle
I'm feeling hussled by the evening crowd.
