Earth

Summer solstice
red sun that does not set
the smell of smoke from campfires
and there is one God-earth.

How they ended up here 1500 years ago
What were their thoughts
and how was the earth back then
I remember it was endless
magical and mysterious.

The dew on blackberry bushes in the morning
and a lost flock of herons
walking in the meadow beside a forest.
There was freedom like no one knows
who lives now.

Kurgan meant an ancient burial place
and now it means something else.
It is not in us to remmember
only to live looking for a different god.
