Elevator Blues

I press my designated number
Up it lit, we roll like thunder
Strangest feeling down below
Moving slow, moving slow
Moving up and down with no clues
You guessed it babe
I got the elevator blues

A shrinking room around my head
A prison cell, a metal shed
People come and then they go
Miss the door, upset the flow
I'd take the stairs but I think I'd lose
You guessed it babe
I got the elevator blues

Larry takes the same the way I go
I pushed in '3' then closed the door
We smile but we dont talk anymore
Just nod our heads and watch the floor
When I die this isn't the place that I'd choose
You guessed it babe
I got the elevator blues

Destination reached; thirteenth floor
Please stand back from the sliding door
Larry heads off into the day
I listen to the faint saxaphones play
I got it right on down to my shoes
You guessed it babe
It's the elevator blues
I got the elevator blues
I got the elevator blues
Elevator blues

This reminds me of some of Langston Hughes material in how musical it is...I really enjoyed it...top marks! -Michael
