Escape Of A Con Artist

Poem By Khalid Mansour Saleh

To you I must say I’m sorry
But there is no more you and no more me.
I really did think it was plain to see
That maybe me and you were never meant to be

I’ve gone now never to return to this place
I left the day I lost myself,
My life and head is one empty space
And with just a blank look on my face.

The feelings I felt when I got on the train
Never to return to this shit hole again
Brought back the memories and the pain
And for what? Because at the end nobody would gain.

Now, a few years on I look back on the times
I remember what we had, the love, the fights
Such a juxtaposition of one another
And in many aspects so were we.

No matter what I would not change a thing I did
Because at the end of a day
I did do it my way
And regrets are for another life
And mistakes for another knife
