Poem Hunter
Eternal Tears
JLE (1/18/1962 / Alliance, Nebraska)

Eternal Tears

From inner depths of azure eyes
there flow eternal streams of tears.
No peaceful, lulling lullabies
will silence desolation's fears.

An agonizing, ripping pain
has mutilated passion's heart.
The evidence, a scarlet stain,
defiles the road where dreams depart.

In raging skies of aftermath
a jaded storm is churning fast.
With hopes laid in destruction's path,
to death's abyss romance is cast.

An ebon haze of misery
engulfs this battered, weeping soul.
Damnation's force claims victory
while desperation's hands control.
