Existence

You cannot count on both hands the amount of times
I have questioned every dream and wish and hope
Existence can hold for you
Is such a thing possible?
Lost?
Inhospitable?
Plastered on the walls of your mind
And hiding the truth behind
With a symbiotic protection we may call ‘love’
But when you realise what may be above
Or below
Or not
Then you realise that this cannot be
Or is
Perhaps I find myself thinking too much
Or perhaps I can’t find myself because
I’m not here
And neither are you
But for a model of a mock-up of a simulacra
That someone forgot to finish
And left to form this crazy thing
That is both there and not
Are you reading my words now?
Or are my words reading you.

And every time I dream
It seems more real
Than this world tends to seem
And I hate to let go but then I fall
Lose it all
It’s gone
Above me as I hit the mattress with a start
And a smack
Thump
Whack
But I know that it’s in my mind
Despite how real it seems
And I ‘know’ this world is real
And here
And there
Near
But far and wrong in your eyes,
That obscure reflection in your clear
Pupils that hold no real substance, just myth

And the Angels dance
And fall from the sky.
