Fading Days Of Summer

On a nearby tree sits a Blue Jay,
Reminding me of an imminent change.
The warm days of Summer have faded,
Autumn is not too far out of range.

The sun seems to keep on hiding now
Behind blue-gray clouds, drifting abound.
There is a changing color of leaves
As they listlessly fall to the ground.

Cornstalks and pumpkins deck the fields,
Ragweed growing on the nearby hill,
Dreams of hayrides and harvest fetivities
Become a pertinent part of an Autumn thrill.
