The fall colors astound me.
As I sit quietly in contemplation
Of their beauty.
The muted yellows, browns and greens,
Creating contrast for the flaming Maple.
The mountains clothed in evergreens,
Providing background for colorful,
Neighborhood trees outside my window.
The evergreen will stand alone,
Throughout the winter’s cold.
All other trees seem to disappear,
Remaining colorless and unadorned.
Before they go Maple, Oak, and Aspen,
Say a colorful goodbye.
Took the time to sit in quiet contemplation,
That I might within myself,
Their grand departure.
