Father

Look at your hands,
Weather worn,
Rough but not torn,
Testimony to years,
Of hard work.

Look at your face,
Darkened in the sun,
Lines that run,
Tell tales,
Of experiences in life.

Look at your eyes,
Glowing so bright,
Like stars in the night,
They’ve seen so much,
They speak,
In ways so meek.

Of friendship, love,
Satisfaction, fatherhood,
Of loss of gains,
The whole of you,
Firmly does say.

I did things my way,
Life is not drole,
And happiness,
Was my only goal.
