Final Rest

Poem By Theodora (Theo) Onken

Somewhere in the dessert
She sits alone
Totally unraveled
To strings of past desire
In antiscipation of an oasis
Peeking into the sand
She sees his face
Absolute reflection of her need
A bouquet of hues of longing
Turns softly into the here and now
Her fragile woven existance
Weaves love into tender feelings
But 'tis it just a tale she has
Penned in vain?
Her desire 'tis uncovered
Chillingly into the reality of an
Ice covered dawn
She is able to remember
A lovelier time
Brief yet gentle
When her young world danced
And laughed and her joy was
But in kneeling now
At this most sad hour
Her winter season of life
She ignites her tears
In effigy
A lost and smoke filled
To her lonely and broken

Comments about Final Rest

Wonderful poetry, you write in the style of what I call real poetry, with class and elegance!
Very dramatic poem about a lonely and broken destiny. In the beginning of the poem, I was hoping she would weave and create something through magic, but it was just an illusion, a mirage. I like the short lines of the poem. While I was reading it I imagined smoke in the form of words curling up from the desert floor and then disappearing. Nicely penned. Thanks for sharing.

In the twilight of this quiescent moment-
I peruse this thing of ours-
Querying this palpable abtruse connection-
Am i deluded or wrongly perceived by the stars?

I missed you the other day
When the dew left its diamond glitter upon the grass
And the squirrels and frogs were frolicking merry
When the silence of daybreak calmed

It was in the Dawn of new beginnings
In a field so full of you
Armoured bouquets of Love
Covered by Heavens baby blue;

It t'was in the early eve of Remember- -
Before twilight had come around...
Where i found you with a basket of love so true...
And in the air t'was a melody of new loves sweet sound! ;

An ancient river carries your name-
In silver caverns so deep-
A Princess sits crying her heart out-

Comes the breaking of dawn...
'Tis much too soon, my darling
For you shall soon be gone;
