Your heart is safely stored in my soul.
by Brigitte M. Walker
As petals on a rose at dawn of day,
My memory unfurls, to let me stay
With you once more, and once again I feel,
I see, I hear you act my lover's role.
My fingers trace your outline, still impressed
In cool black satin sheets where you declared
Your love to me last night, and where I heard
You say you would return if life decrees such grace,
And once, and if, you had accomplished your great quest.
If you crave truth and clarity, they say,
Then look at things in a bright morning sun.
I know today you are forever gone from me,
But my heart dances, and it will dance on;
My life was gilded by your presence yesterday!
