Flicker Of The Candle

Poem By Lynne Howard

Flicker of the candle long ago
When he first caught my eye
One look across the smoky room
The attraction so hard to defy

Our spark turned into friendship
An earning of the trust
Lost in love's illusion
Before my world turned into dust

Time together passed too quickly
Our destiny not to be
For he was promised to another
And that's my tragedy

Flicker of the candle of first love
Extinguishing of the flame
Quiet reflections of yesteryear
Tradition was to blame

Power Of Love

Love enters life in many different ways
Filling voids and brightening days
Highly charged emotion often misunderstood
Deep inside our being this power called love

Beauty Of Friendship

Beauty of friendship comes deep from within
Without regard to origin or colour of skin
Aesthetic value plays no part
It's what we feel inside our heart

Our little corner of the world
In which to find inner peace
A private retreat to disappear
Relaxing the mind stress decreased

Saturday Night Local

They congregate at the local pub
Each and every Saturday night
Break in routine from stressful week
Creatures of habit seeking respite

Turning Of The Leaves

Autumn chill is in the air
Trees rustling excitedly in the breeze
Fading light of summer sky
Bringing calm and peace

Different Planets

We hail from different planets in this vast universe
Not speaking of astronomy or anything so diverse
Simply men and women trying to understand
Each other's thoughts and feelings a difficult task at hand
