Flowers Now!

Please
If you love me
Bring me flowers now
When I'm alive
And can smell their lovely perfume
And gaze upon their elegant form
And marvel at their intricate design

Please
If you love me
Read what I write now
The words from my heart
Are an integral part
Of who I am and what is mine

Please
If you love me
Don't save the flowers
For my grave; don't shed tears
Of regret that you wasted all the years
When I was here all the time

Please, I beg you,
Bring me flowers
Now!

Laurie, you express things here I’ve seen before in your poems. But this one stands apart for me in the way it flows and for its lack of rancor. It’s a little song of a piece and for which I can’t find a better descriptor than perfect. -Glen
