Follow The Beat

Poem By Lodigiana Poetess

The drumbeat sounds a muted drone
monotonous, unceasing.
The camp fires glows with embers
red, all giving heat decreasing.
My love awakes and with a kiss
left lightly, walks away.
My tender love he be by night,
my soldier boy by day

With feet still ragged from the march
o'er rough terrain and hills
and shoes of very thinnest gauge,
unpurposed‘gainst the chill.
But love will lead, I follow still,
so tired but wont succumb.
The pacing timed a heartbeat thud
I'm following the drum.

Where'er it leads is where I'll be
my love walks not alone.
The beating drum will play the tune
that soon will lead him home.
As always I will follow on
my fatigued limbs do smart.
My soldier boy will fight his fight,
but I will win his heart!

Tomorrow's Yesterday

How soon today is yesterday
and tomorrow is today.
It seems that nothing's fixed in life
and soon all fades away.

All's Well

Starting afresh, eyes awake and squinting in the brilliance of morning sunshine.
Through the anonymity of darkness, sun battles the elements to rise…..
Rise it does!
Through the open window the sound of the morning lark, trumpets a new beginning.

When Love Comes A'calling

I thinklove's like a stranger
who beckons at your door..
To let him in will change your life
now and forever more….

This Hand

It feels so small and fragile
the fingers lithe and long.
Translucent skin like gossamer,
a hand once warm and strong.

I heard it repeating,
that voice in my ear,
and wondered once more
if redemption was near.

The Wolves Within

We sit alone prepared to feast
no thought to who partakes,
ignoring battles fought within
creating more heartaches
