For Jorge On The Occasion Of Your Barmitzvah
Poem By Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet
In the Jewish Faith on his 13th Birthday
A Boy becomes A Man.
To keep G-D's Laws he is told
As often as he can.
But he is still a Boy
And should do as all boys do,
Still play with games and toy
And get into mischief too.
The art of growing up is hard
It brings problems by the score
To family and friends and you
But who could ask for more,
Than to see you enter your Teens
And watch as you mature
Into a Man who is good and true
And brings credit to all you adore.
So listen to these words I speak
And still remain yourself
For Jorge you are the one we love,
And a changed one would not do
As we have learned to love YOU,
With all your ways and wiles
Which bring you closer in our hearts
And often brings us smiles.
But, sometimes there are things you do,
Which do not always please.
So ponder on these lines at times
When actions come to mind,
And you wonder which ways to go
And still wish to be kind
To those whom you care about
To give them peace of mind.
