For Whatever May Assemble

Poem By J. James Martinez

There
Over on the bed lies my girl
Wrapped in the dark scheme of sleep
Wrapped up in her dreams
And
Brand new sheets

I hold her with disdain
I lick her with sour tongues
I choke her with my pages

When you look to someone or something
To turn the sun into the moon
The mechanical hands crawl

When you’d give your breath
For a moment not to end
The days always fall a little faster

Surely I love her
In every passing moment
Through every fading dream
Frantically pacing
Placing
Piecing peace together
All for the better
For whatever may assemble
And eventually be dismantled
