Forbidden Fruits

I hide behind a tree, giggling as you chase me
A small dark fruit shifts from one hand to the other as I wait in anticipation for you to find me
You playfully scare me out of my hiding spot, your breath condensing in the air as you laugh and wrap me in your arms
I snuggle deep into you chest, my cold little hands nestled between the two of us, slowly getting warmer
You hold me close to you and sway, humming a song
I smile, looking up at you in admiration
You rest your head on mine, still swaying with your eyes closed
Humming a tune that I've heard before, but can't seem to recall
You lean back to look at me and I open my hands, revealing the dark purple treasure they hold
You smile and take the plum out of my hands
'The new forbidden fruit of Eden', you say, and take a bite
I smile and do the same
We kiss and walk away, hand in hand
To remind ourselves that though life is bitter as a plum
We have ways to make it sweet again
