Forever, Written In The Stars

Poem By K.M. Jones

Forever is mine,
You promised it to me.
I own Eternity,
Or so you said to me.
But when you spoke those empty words,
Did you know it, even then?
Did you see the dimming light,
The black oblivion,
The churning river of souls?
Tell me, love,
Did you see forever?
What a dismal place that must be,
Filled with empty promises and shards of broken dreams.
It must be a barren land,
For no imagination can picture it's landscapes.
I prefer the charms of Today,
The magic and mystery of Tonight,
And the immediacy of This Moment.
What a shame that you chose immortality.
Forever, written in the stars.

Waiting For The Stars To Fall

Deep within the depths of your eyes,
Those placid mirrors that burn with the fire of your soul,
I see the reflection of an impostor,
A fool who has drunk deep from fantasy's bowl.

Imaginary

Some things can lighten pain,
And make anguish into a lantern,
Whose warm light guides a
Broken, battered spirit.

Snowstorm

The snow falls silently, with a sense of serenity that betrays
The inner turmoil of my mental hurricane.
How can the world still spin, the snow still fall,
When my heart is in such pain?

Bus Ride

The rain falls steadily on the foggy windowpane,
Clouding the multicolored rainbow of neon lights,
All offering cheap amusements and drink to warm the bones.
Blaring lights preceed the screeching horn of a car,

Breakdown

What is sanity, but a shadow of truth,
Fleeing before the faintest ray from a candle?
It is a friend you believe to be loyal, who departs
Immediately, escaping a situation they couldn't handle.

Laughing At Death

Death has no power over us now.
You were dead once,
And I was dying.
I could not breathe without you by my side.
