Four Dark Corners (18th March 2006)
Poem By Sarah Capella Smith
I walked through my mind last Tuesday;
It was black and passionate, an illustration of suicide.
I was shown the ropes - my thick purple nerves -
And I held on so tight that I would never let myself go.
Thud. And I land inside a stiff bubble.
But I keep, keep, keep my eyes open. A little light guides me.
I crawled, lifting up my head every so often, creaking
My neck to remind me I’m going forward, forward to the light.
A hole at the end opened like a puppy dogs’ eye
And the tears I shed where fresh and grew a new life.
