From Eden To Zion
Poem By Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet
A dam was the first man, in Eden did he live,
B egat Cain and Abel,
C ain did only live.
D ownwards through the ages,
E ver onwards we do go,
F rom Noah and his Ark, as we watch those waters flow.
G -D made himself known to Abraham,
H e was the first Jew,
I saac's faith was tested on Rosh Hashanah too,
J acob's name was changed to Israel, and to Egypt did come,
K ith and kin came with him to make Canaan their home.
L ed from Slavery in Egypt by Moses, the Israelites were freed,
M anna delivered by G-D, for HIS people he did feed.
N agged again for water, Moses did strike the rock,
O ut did flow the water, but Moses got a shock,
P ermission was denied him to see the Promised Land,
Q uibble though he might, he did understand.
R espect for G-D's wishes, to do as he was told,
S hould have ensured that in Israel he'd grow old.
T o transfer his Leadership to Joshua, he was told to do,
U ntil the River Jordan, he would lead his people too.
V iewed from up a mountain, he would be shown the Land,
W here G-D would lead HIS people and make them understand,
X -ercise humility, to keep HIS Statutes and Commands,
Y earn for all the goodness that He would to them hand,
Z ion for G-D's people, would become their Homeland.
